U-TAPAO - OCTOBER 2003 REUNION TRIP

Here is my little contribution of a few pictures to give everyone a taste of Thailand as seen through the Galvan's camera. I debated for 8 months whether I should go on this trip, mainly because I dreaded 18 hours in a plane. But I decided to go anyway and I will never regret it. It had been exactly 30 years ago in October that I left Thailand and I will not wait another 30 years to return.

I got to meet a great bunch of guys who I will consider my good friends from now on. A month before the trip, I decided to take my brother out of his cage and he decided to go (I could have asked him the day before and he still would have gone!!) Dan had never been to Thailand and is now addicted.
I want to thank all the guys that were with us for accepting Dan into the ranks.

The tabs on the left show some highlights of our trip. Special thanks go out to Miss Vilai Roongroj and to Tony and Somjai Young's family for their hospitality and treating 'us' strangers like they have known us forever.

The Young show is called a Leekae. A 'leekae' or musical/comedy show was given by Somjai to appease her family spirits. She must do this every three years. Her sister Al, is believed to be possessed by these spirits and for them not to take possession of Somjai, this agreement was made. The show was given for two days in a row. We were there on the first night. John, Dave and Dan had a great time.
